YASMIN UMAY is a Berlin-based vocalist and songwriter of German-Turkish descent, blending the golden eras of 90s R’n’B and Hip-Hop with Neo Soul, Jazz, Roots Reggae and Dub.

 

Writing songs since the age of 13, her sound is shaped by her multicultural upbringing, poetry, and influences including Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Mos Def and J.Dilla. She has performed across Germany, France, Switzerland and Mexico, with credits including SXSW London, Reeperbahn Festival, c/o pop Festival, ARTE Live, Feel Festival, Soho House Berlin and Refuge Worldwide. Her debut EP Circles explores repeating life patterns and the personal growth that comes from breaking free of them. A resident of Refuge Worldwide, Yasmin also hosts her own radio show, Geminithingz, bringing together the sounds and influences that shape her musical world.
